About the event
Just ten days after celebrating America’s 4th of July, we’re thrilled to join the Bastille Day Festival in San Francisco to explore with you the revolutionary roots that shaped two nations, and the bold declarations that redefined liberty !
While both revolutions unfolded in different manners, and in vastly different political and social contexts, both the American Revolution and the French Revolution share that they were fundamentally reactions against perceived mistreatment, abuses of power, and a desire for greater representation and input from the majority of the people – in other words, popular sovereignty.
In both cases, these revolutions ultimately led to dramatic political change in the name of a new vision for what society and government should look like, establishing a common script of rights.
