Francophone Poetry Contest 2024: A New Momentum for Francophone Poetry

This second edition of the Poetry Contest was held in a prestigious setting: the Residence of France in San Francisco, thanks to the warm welcome of the Consul General of France, Mr. Florian Cardinaux. A heartfelt thank you to him for his unwavering support.

This year, the contest expanded to the French Overseas Territories, including New Caledonia, Madagascar, and Mauritius. New voices, fresh inspiration, and poetry more vibrant than ever!

The 2024 Poetry Contest brought together 652 students, 105 schools, and a total of 576 poems submitted.

The contest is open to young poets from France, the Francophone world, and learners of French, up to high school level, across the United States, Canada, and the French Overseas Territories.

Closing Speech – Thomas Célérier

During the ceremony, Thomas Célérier, creator of the Poetry Contest and Vice President of Culture Without Border, delivered a vibrant and inspiring speech. He reminded everyone of the importance of poetry as a timeless art, inviting young poets to pursue their poetic journey with passion:

"Poetry is much more than one of the arts; it is an infinite opening onto the world, both art and science, the music of rhymes and the alchemy of ink. Embrace it, make it your own, and it will give back to you." – Thomas Célérier

He also encouraged young authors to persevere in their creative journey:

"May your verses be bridges between cultures, pathways between hearts. Poetry is an endless adventure, an invitation to explore the edges of imagination. Keep writing, dreaming, expressing yourselves. Your voice matters. It is unique, precious, and carries the promise of a poetic future we can’t wait to discover."
